This of course is just my opinion but it has to be the best console that has ever been made. There are many reasons for this and they come from great games, nostalgic reasons and because it is a console people will always go back too.

Great Games

Although still sticking to the cartridge based game I have to say I have far more decent memories of playing on my N64 than my PS1 and this is simply because almost every game to be released onto the console was amazing.

Banjo Kazooie

This 1998 game by Rare was and still is one of my favourite games of all time. The reason it worked so well is simply because of the fantastic use of level design, and platform game play. two other main games have been made with the last one being an exclusive to the 360. Although the third one was a little bit disappointing it still turned out to be a great game.

Mario 64

This is one of the best selling games and most loved games of all time having sold over 11 million copies, it was the biggest selling game on the N64. It is also one of those games that revolutionised the way that people play games nowadays with many people being amazed by the games stunning 3D graphics.

There are so many other games out there on the N64 worth playing, anyone remember Ocarina Of Time and Goldeneye. The reason that this console is just so popular with me is simply because I grew up playing the thing and although the same can be said for the PS1 I just think that this has and will be Nintendo’s finest moment.

Before you buy your kids anything think about reading toys reviews and gadgets reviews.

So there you have it, the best console ever to be made!

The PS2 was brought out in the year 2000, and has gone on to sell more than 70 million units worldwide. This gaming console has competed against a wide range of other gaming consoles, yet still remains one of the best selling gaming machines of all time. The reasons for its success are partly because it is competitively priced, partly because of the great selection of games that can be played on it, and partly because of the wide array of game enhancing accessories that can be used with it.

Of the accessories available for the PS2 console, these are the most popular:

Sony PS2 Multitap : Unlike the Xbox or GameCube, the PS2 has just two built in controller ports. However, if you are planning to play against four people than you can buy a mulittap, which allows you to engage in a four player gaming session.

PS2 Dual Shock Controller : This controller provides a more spontaneous gaming experience, with pressure sensitivity on every action button plus an improved mobility of the analog. After using one, you will find it slightly boring to use the standard PS2 controller again.

PS2 DVD Remote Controller Kit : The PS2 has the ability to read both CDs plus DVDs, therefore the PS2 DVD remote controller was brought into existence. This controller allows PS2 owners to watch movies in exactly the same way as they would watch them on TV.

Sony PS2 Memory Card : Obviously you would always want to continue your game from where you would have left off. Sonys memory cards are the safest and trustworthy way to ensure that your game files does not get corrupted or lost.

Logitech PS2 Wireless Headset : This allows you to play games without getting tangled up in cables or waking up your family with loud game sounds. It will also help you to communicate with other online players. The Logitech Wireless headset is well built, with excellent sound quality and even the slightest sound could be heard with ease.

—

Surely the Wii has been put down as a family console? Why is it that you can even see these Poker games on the console? Apprently there is a fairly good reason why all of this is happening.

Of course Ninendo want people to be playing their games but they do not want to be restricting it to the family alone. Right, when was the last time the fans saw a decent game! So they thought brining in the gamblers would be a better idea than making a decent game for the fans, Nintendo you have really lost it now havent you.

So although this game isn’t likely to give you any real rakeback whether that comes in the form of full tilt rakeback or pokerstars rakeback it just isn’t going to be happening with this game.

There does seem to be one major issue with all of this and it comes in the form of the age and the console itself. Although the console is mainly for the family it is not strictly meant to be for the family so introducing poker games could be a good idea.

Is it that likely that your child is going to be addicted to gambing by 12! For some reason the rating for thos game is a 12 and not higher although I suppose you are not gambling for money. So why is it that the games like GTA in which a kid would not be able to do much more than run someone over are 18’s and these games are only 12’s?

Well there is the proof, the world has gone mad! However if you enjoy a bit of poker and do not like to waste money on playing the real thing then a poker game on the Wii could be right for you.

It has become clear in recent years that gaming as a whole has influenced the military. it would seem the army may have gone a bit too far this time as they have taken the everyday gaming controller and made it into something that can control war vehicles.

The question to ask is that are there any real benefits to using this kind of technology in the army? Well the first maker benefit would be that they no longer have to sit there on a mounted position controlling various things. Thngs like recon planes can now be controlled in very similar ways that you would control an RC plane. Does anyone remember that crazy film that starred Robin Williams as a toy maker who has to try and stop his uncle from taking over the world by using remote controlled tanks and planes.

it is possible that a time may come where the army will not have to send troops in at all and just allow them to sit back and control all of these tanks and things from behind the lines? Of course not, the whole reason the army is a success is because of the skills, wits and training that all of these men and women have been given. This is just another option to take when it comes to fighting a very modern war, it will never be used without the help of people and to think that it would is madness.

It is wondered how many deutsch connectors and cable ties are actually needed to develop this brilliant technology. The thing is, all of the creators of the game pads now have this on thier concious? Chances are they never invented the technology so the military could use it to fight wars, they are meant for fun and nothing else. Let us just hope that they used hellermann tyton to make sure everything is secure enough to work.

Poker is a great game and getting that rakeback whether it is full tilt rakeback or pokerstars rakeback is something that is never complained about. How much poker is okay to play?

Well poker can be good for you if you play it in moderation and of course if you play it as well as Mr Bond you could be bringing in a lot of money. A lot of people seem to be playing this in the same way that people play with the slot machines and bet on horse racing.

The problem here is that if you win big oyu often cant stop and you end up losing more than you won. The problem is that if you win big and start to lose you will always think that there is another big win on the way. There are so many companies that will encourage you to play even when you are losing which is not very good at all.

Just take it in moderation, do not go too far. Do not go spending all of your money on playing poker as gambling is something that can very easily tear away marriages and your entire life apart.

However, there are many friendly companies out there that will say look, you are losing a lot of money here, just calm it down for a while. These companies care both about the profits and of the wellbeing of their customers.

If you are thinking about starting up poker or think you are spending too much money on it, then look for one of the games out on the consoles? There are many Poker Games out there that could prove to be very useful indeed. As well as this it would seem that there are many poker tournaments online just set up for fun.

It is not always about the money!

With the recent release of Guitar Hero 5 into the gaming world has the game stopped people from being free to learn an actual musical instruments?

GH5 has been doing very well in the charts so far and it could be set to be the best selling one yet. But what is the appeal of these games and why do people play them rather than take the time to learn the real instruments?

That is the first key reason, time. People do lead very busy lives which is why Guitar Hero is useful as you can jump into it on easy or medium mode and just play a couple of songs without learning the real thing.. People lead busy lives and although playing Guitar Hero on expert takes a lot of time, you can just get home and jump into a couple of songs rather than spending hours to learn.

Guitar Hero itself was a huge success before MTV had even thought about Rock Band? By this stage Activision has already produced three Guitar Hero so they were way ahead of the game.. The thing is, with Guitar Hero you can change the difficulty to the needs you have so it is a lot easier than playing an instrument. If however you are playing a real guitar then you either can or cannot play it. What is the real appeal even with all this in mind? Playing Guitar Hero itself is a lot easier than learning how to play an instrument; you can set the difficulty level from beginner all the way up to expert so there is a skill level for everyone. However if you are playing a real guitar you are either good or bad.

It is not really cheaper in the long run as you are constantly forking out cash for the new games and instruments and what with the new DJ Hero as well as Band Hero on the way, is the company just taking the success for granted?

Surely DJ hero is not going to persuade people to turn off their DJ Lighting and trade in those DJ headphones just to play the game at all. Only time will indeed tell.

After just renting the game I came back rather impressed. The previous additions to the game have not been brilliant. The last one that was worth a ten minute go was Undercover and that was at best, okay.

This game has actually got a chance of competiting with the new Forza game which is on the way later this month.

The playability of the game really is quite brilliant with many hours having to be spent finishing all of the races, tuning the cars to suit your needs and playing it on the various difficulties. You are likely to also spend a lot of time on the online modes.

This game isn’t about new cars but more about the custom made models from the likes of Honda, Volkswagen and every other car maker you can think of.

In terms of playing for fun , Need For Speed did seem a lot better than Forza but then again I have only managed to play the Forza demo. However Forza’s graphics are far superior with a bigger set list of cars to actually be driven in the game too.

EA have taken a slightly different angle with it this year by homing in on the driver. Everything in the game is supposed to make you feel like the driver, any crash you make will turn the screen blurry and even go black and white.

Buying them both is sometimes not affordable so just play the demo’s and get a feel for both of the games and make a decision!

With the soon release of Band Hero coming to the UK on the DS the question that must be asked is are these games getting to much and is there really a demand for them?

Well when it was announced that Guitar Hero was on its way to the DS there was actually a bit of excitement as it was the first time that a game like this had made its way onto a hand held console. This game with its problems and it is these problems that still need fixing.

The major problem that this game actually has is that when you are trying to play it the peripherals are not designed very well so it ends up really hurting the hands. Although it hasnt actually been proved that your hands will suffer damage through this game, if you were to sit down and play it for an extended period of time I can tell you for a fact that the hands would hurt. Another problem was the fact that you couldn’t pick a favourite guitar to use like the Gibson Les Paul Junior

When the drum add on came into the game it started to get slightly better as you didnt always have to go around hurting yourself when you played the game, however the add on wasnt needed as you could just use the screen.

With the new update of Band Hero there is still no way at all that you can play it on the DSi, sure you can play the drums but it is the guitar that people are interested in? The only feature that they have added to this new game is the ability to sing and this is not going to please anyone as is likely to annoy them more than anything.

How long is it before they start to introduce silly things like DJ equipment and one of those bass guitar amps.

That’s right, forget Guitar Hero and Rock Band as this is a game in which using a plastic guitar is not needed at all. The great thing about this one is that you need no large spaces to play it in and no plastic guitar. So what game is it?

Brutal Legend is the game that I am on about here and the game itself is based upon album art from classic rock with the main guy voiced by the funny Jack Black. This is no game for kids, not by any means as this game comes with an 18 certificate plastered on the front of it even though you do have an option at the start of the game to take out the swearing. This was done to get parents to buy it for their kids, without the swearing the game really isnt that bad, it would scare the kids more than make them violent people.

However there is a lot of violence in the game with the majority of it being spent hitting, killing and running over anything you see. There is actually a multiplayer aspect to this game and it is not what might pop into the head at first. It is more strategy based than the single player game as you have to spawn an army of followers that will help you fight the other team.

The weapons in the game include a gigantic battle axe and one of those awesome looking guitars that you see in classic rock. It is not really based on one of those Bass Guitars or Acoustic Guitars but is a combination of all things rock.

It is not just Jack Black that has been involved in this game other stars include Lita Ford, Tim Curry and the prince of darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne. This game has a great storyline with a great cast and various moments will at least make you crack a smile.

With DJ Hero well on the way, is it possible it can out sell Guitar Hero?? Not likely no. There are, many reasons why..

Guitar Hero has a very successful back log of games that seem to out sell the past instalment every time a new increase to the franchise is released. On a internet poll it has shown that far more people are interested in a rock game over a DJ game. However with the release of Band Hero the pop market of songs is also going to be thrown out there so the company are actually competing against themselves in three different ways this side of Christmas.

Somehow DJ Hero still looks to be a unique and fun game to play. The game itself is going to be at around £90 and comes with a DJ turntable controller that will let you mix and scratch your way through over one hundred songs ranging from 80s all the way to Motown and Rock. There is a long list of artists already including

Black Eyed Peas
Young MC
Eminem
LL Cool J
Eric B. and Rakim
N.E.R.D

However like the Guitar Hero games it is recommended that if you are actually already a DJ that you do not go and trade in your DJ Speakers and DJ Software for this game in the same way trading in your musical instruments for Guitar Hero was not a good idea.

However the game itself looks like it could be a big success to the people who are interested in being a DJ but cannot afford to take the time and money to take it up as a full time job. Just like playing the guitar, being a DJ takes a lot of time and effort to do and this is just in place for people to have a bit of fun with in the holiday season and beyond.
