The UK Gambling Commission, which was created as a result of the Gambling Act of 2005, recently commissioned three men for running poker games out of the Cherry Tree pub in Runcorn, Cheshire. The Gambling Commission’s Regional North West Compliance Manager, Alan Green, was happy with the way things were dealt with and said, “This investigation is a good example of joint partnership working together to keep gambling fair and safe for everyone in Cheshire.This case serves as a stark reminder to those who run pubs of their overall responsibility to ensuring gaming on their premises doesn’t happen.” The investigation started after it was discovered that the three men were holding games in their pub with buy-ins higher than the £5 limits allowed under the 2005 law.
