LG tested the Android operating system waters with the LG GW620. Criticized by some for entering the game relatively late, they have rectified the situation by producing a quality successor to the GW620. Known to retailers as the LG GT540, it is more popularly known as the Optimus. Keeping development costs down by remaining true to the operations of the 620, LG has presented a user friendly, mid-priced smartphone in the Optimus. One handy feature of the Optimus is the available QWERTY keyboard that brings an ease to typing and texting previously not seen on devices of its ilk. It is somewhat larger than comparable smartphone models, but it is far from big, measuring 109 x 54.5 x 12.7mm. It will slip into any pocket and remain unnoticed because of a lightweight, high quality plastic construction. The plastic shell is contoured around the frame, making for a sleek, smooth appearance. Instantly noticeable is the 3-inch resistive touch screen that covers much of the front of the LG Optimus. Even though it is not a capacitive touch screen, it is rather accurate, reducing the chance of errors while navigating or typing. It displays images in HVGA resolution and image quality is ably presented on the TFT display. It exceeds most other models in the middle price range. Images are brought to life with 256K colors and a 320 x 480 pixel resolution. Two types of home screens provide variety to the Optimus. One screen is the familiar, staid version seen on other Android-powered device and the other is an LG customized version. The customized home screen can be adapted to feature buttons on the bottom of the screen that allow messaging access at any time. Widgets, folders, and shortcuts can also be placed on this screen. In addition to being able to create anywhere from three to seven home screens, themes can be completely changed on all of them. Battery life is greatly improved on the Optimus from previous LG smartphone models. A 1500mAh lithium-ion battery has been rated at 500 hours of life on standby and has been shown to provide up to 7 hours and 20 minutes of talk time. This is almost unheard of when it comes to smartphones. Of course, the LG Optimus comes packed with miscellaneous features that will please the user who is looking to enhance the smartphone experience. On the Optimus you will find an alarm clock, world clock, voice recorder, personal organizer, a dedicated Youtube plug-in, a PDF viewer, and scads of other handy applications. An entry-level Android phone, the LG Optimus affords ease of use that will not overwhelm new users. These customers will like the ease of use, while the experienced user will find the familiarity useful.

A GPS unit is now a common piece of equipment to find in a car. As much as people like them though, complaints about problems arising with them are not rare. Fortunately, most problems with GPSs can easily be avoided. The following is some practical information and advice on keeping your GPS in good working order.

Screen : Probably the most common complaint about GPS units is that various problems with the screen arise after using it for over 6 months. People find this very frustrating, as it takes them longer to program in a new route, and makes it more difficult to see the directions whilst driving. All screen related problems can be easily avoided though. A screen protector is all that is required. With a screen protector in place, there is no way that the dirt on your fingers can come into contact with either the screen itself or the sensitive touch receptors under it.

Processor : Whenever your GPS is turned on, the processor will continue to work. The processor will cause the GPS to be in constant contact with the GPS satellites, and will attempt to take the information from those satellites and turn it into useful information like maps. The more your GPS processor has to work, the faster it will wear out. It only takes a second to turn it off when you have finished using it, and those seconds could end up adding years to the life of your GPS unit.

Battery : The battery that a GPS unit runs off is normally not very robust. Any kind of power surge will probably ruin it. Therefore, you should not have your GPS unit plugged in to the power outlet when starting up your car. The reason being that a slight power surge is sent through all of a car’s power outlets when it is started up. This surge is typically about 15% – 20% higher then your GPS needs to power up. Over time, these power surges will wear out your GPSs battery. At first the battery will absorb the extra power but, as it weakens, the core components of the GPS unit start to be affected too.

Alarm clocks have not always been a necessity. For a large part of history, most people never had access to clocks, let alone alarm clocks. The first mechanical clocks in Europe, very large devices too big for homes, appeared in the 14th century, and it was not until the 17th century that the first household clocks, sometimes with alarms, came into use.

They were still relatively rare though, and it took until the late 1800s before bedside alarms really started to become popular. Those early mechanical versions of alarm clocks have evolved into the electronic devices that we use today. It was actually 1959 that the alarm clocks that bear a resemblance to what we use today were first introduced.

One significant change in recent years has been the addition of the capability to attach MP3 players to alarm clocks. With so many things that can be downloaded online and put into a MP3 player, it is now possible for people to wake up to sounds of their favorite artists and bands. Still, even with the addition of cool functions such as this, the traditional alarm clock has seen a slump in sales.

The reason lies primarily in the proliferation of cell phones in recent years. People find it more convenient to use the alarm clock function on their cell phone rather than use a traditional alarm clock, however many features that they offer. Surveys show an increasing number of people ditching their alarm clocks and using their cell phones to wake them up.

However, there is no reason to expect the alarm clock to go the way of the dinosaur any time soon. Many people want something more than just their cell phones to wake them up, and the ever-improving alarm clock technology can offer more specialized waking features. For example, people can now buy an alarm clock which records body motions throughout the night and selects the optimal time to wake the sleeper (waking in the right sleep phase is much easier).

—

For information on modern alarm clocks that make waking up as pleasant as possible, visit ‘Bose Alarm Clock‘, where you can learn about Bose alarm clocks and alarm clock features.

Recently it would seem that the technology has been risen up in terms of a weather station yet the real question that I need to ask here is, why are they still not able to predict the weather in the correct way? The real problem with this is that when you are making a plan to go out for the day and the weather you were told was coming in doesn’t and it ends up chucking it down. Not really tanning weather?

Well the real fact behind it is that the weather is actually almost impossible to predict simply because one small change in the system will affect the weather and change the prediction after all that’s what it is in the end, just a forecast and not going to be fact. It is just what they think might be probable.

Temperature, wind, humidity, solar radiation and topography of the land all have something to do with how the weather is forecasted and if just one of these things has a slight change then there is going to be a change in the weather. So it is not often the person or the equipment getting it wrong it is just the weather is constantly changing. So when they are actually saying it they are right but it changes too much.

So the next time they are mentioning scorching weather heading in, it could well be worth getting out your portable heaters simply because the weather forecasters are often wrong.

Of course if it starts to turn really muggy which of course it can do for no reason at all the best thing to use to clean out some of the air is a dehumidifier as that will help clean out all of the rubbish air and leave you with the fresh stuff.

So the next time you see a weatherman telling you that it is going to be very sunny, well it could have already changed by the time he has finished his sentence.

The PS2 was brought out in the year 2000, and has gone on to sell more than 70 million units worldwide. This gaming console has competed against a wide range of other gaming consoles, yet still remains one of the best selling gaming machines of all time. The reasons for its success are partly because it is competitively priced, partly because of the great selection of games that can be played on it, and partly because of the wide array of game enhancing accessories that can be used with it.

Of the accessories available for the PS2 console, these are the most popular:

Sony PS2 Multitap : Unlike the Xbox or GameCube, the PS2 has just two built in controller ports. However, if you are planning to play against four people than you can buy a mulittap, which allows you to engage in a four player gaming session.

PS2 Dual Shock Controller : This controller provides a more spontaneous gaming experience, with pressure sensitivity on every action button plus an improved mobility of the analog. After using one, you will find it slightly boring to use the standard PS2 controller again.

PS2 DVD Remote Controller Kit : The PS2 has the ability to read both CDs plus DVDs, therefore the PS2 DVD remote controller was brought into existence. This controller allows PS2 owners to watch movies in exactly the same way as they would watch them on TV.

Sony PS2 Memory Card : Obviously you would always want to continue your game from where you would have left off. Sonys memory cards are the safest and trustworthy way to ensure that your game files does not get corrupted or lost.

Logitech PS2 Wireless Headset : This allows you to play games without getting tangled up in cables or waking up your family with loud game sounds. It will also help you to communicate with other online players. The Logitech Wireless headset is well built, with excellent sound quality and even the slightest sound could be heard with ease.

The worst thing about coming back into work after the Christmas break is that you hit reality. I will say that getting into work these past few days has not been an easy thing to do simply because of the Christmas break, I love my job but I would sure love to stay in bed till 11. Are you someone that usually makes a New Year’s resolution? My personal one this year is a bit of decorating and I have to say I do not usually bother. The bigger people of the nation are trying to cut back and go to the gym and there are even people out there trying to have a different meal everyday of the month.

One of the major questions that needs to be asked here is do resolutions stay in place or do people just drop them? Well I would say that the majority of people drop them after the first week and I can back this up with a fact. Are there not more and more obese people in Britain and the USA every year? This is the proof and it is quite disappointing that people cannot cut back a little bit on the fatty foods and head over to the gym for a minimal amount of time a week!

I was very lucky to get a LED television for Christmas with a nice stand and once it was in place I must admit it looked a bit out of place in the bedroom. Although some of it was in fact a gift I will say that I purchased most of it because I wanted to treat myself. Once this TV was sitting rather proudly in my room I thought it was best to decorate. My girlfriend kept going on about it and eventually I gave in and thought I would make it my resolution, I do not usually make them.

So my mission for January is to get in some great looking bedroom furniture tear out my old white bedroom furniture and look for some brand new white wardrobes. It does sound like something I am going to struggle with!

Gaming discs have a limited lifespan, and they can become worn out over the course of a few years. Hardware failure and repeated attempts from pets or younger siblings to chew on your game discs also contribute to getting your precious gaming discs scratched or destroyed. There is little you can do to undo the damage and scratches that result and, ultimately, the only way you can continue to play that game is to buy it again at its sale price.

Gamers face great troubles in keeping large collections of their games due to these causes; however, with the release of this new software, exact copies of a ps3 or xbox 360 game can be made without incurring any extraordinary cost, and this is why you should get such software for yourself!

Bear in mind that game ripping software is not the same software used to burn CDs or movies, as the former are especially designed to create excellent duplicate copies without decreasing the quality. Regular burning software is not specialized to copy gaming discs. Video games are very different to movie or music discs. You shouldn’t cut corners when it comes to protecting your precious gaming discs.

The reason why you require a game ripping software which specializes in creating duplicate copies of original gaming discs is that by using such a tool you can get an equal level of performance and quality with the duplicate copy. There is no loss whatsoever in video or sound quality. You will not be able to tell a difference.

The process of creating an exact duplicate copy of a gaming disc is anything but complex. You can start off by inserting the original disc in one of your disc drives and placing a blank disc in another of your disc drives. Once you have placed the discs in their respective places, you then simply start the software. The final step is to set in motion the burning process, which is done by just clicking a button.

So continuing with the tanks throughout history really I will start with WW2

WW2

Again WW2 wasn’t a time in which tanks made the most of cable ties and multicore cables but it has to be the time where tanks were used to win battles rather than just as an extra. In fact without the tank it would be safe to say that WW2 would not have been the same war at all. During this time the tank really came into play and it was turned from a heap of metal to the best used weapons system in the war.

Heinz Guderian who was a tactical theoretician actually stated before WW2 that “where tanks are, the front is” and this of course became reality during the course of WW2.

Adolf Hitler used tanks heavily in his very successful Blitzkrieg tactics. Radio was key and for Hitler it really helped as he stuck many radios in the tanks so they could communicate with eachother. He used this to gain Poland as well as France. The reason the tank became such an effective machine was down to Adolf Hitler. A major nation defeated in weeks shocked the world and this was the nudge that the Allies needed to start building better tanks.

Although there were actually many tanks during the course of the war, the most famous ones had to be the sherman, M4, T28 and the Tiger.

Tanks in WW2 were the cause of many, many deaths. The number of people that were killed by tanks was actually very high but no one knows exactly how many of the 56,125,262 people that died was down to the tank.

When it came to the Cold War it was important on which nation had the most amount of tanks and they are of course used in todays battles. There are tanks that have thier own ac fans.

Almost every area of modern technology is moving forwards at an unbelievable rate, but some areas seem to have a little more pace than others. It is the areas of personal computing and entertainment technology that seem to have come on the most, and this is largely down to the increased demand for such products. Technology that helps with personal navigation has also moved on a long way. Here are 3 of the most prominent advances in the last few years.

Sat Nav. These little automobile gadgets have been around for nearly a decade, but have advanced quite a bit in recent times. They have become more usable in difficult or busy driving areas as their re-routing speed is now much faster and they can factor in things like road works and traffic accidents from live feeds. It is now a lot easier to navigation the menus and enter addresses as well using new intelligent touch-screens. You can even get them built into phones now, making them a favourite of cheats on orienteering team building days.

Travel Information. Although public transport has been operating for a great many years, getting access to the necessary dates and times of travel has never been a quick and easy job really. That all changed however when travel operators started publishing their timetables onto the world wide web for everyone to see. Furthermore, there are aggregator programs that allow you to type in a venue such as Cheltenham and they will tell you all the travel routes and times and also tell you any events going on such as Cheltenham hospitality events and festivals.

Friend and Family Location. If you have ever wanted to know where you friends and family are at every waking hour, there has never been a better time to do it. Phone companies are increasingly offering opt-in services where you can track all your contacts locations whenever and wherever they are using GPS technology. This is very useful for keep track of people at a festival or large corporate events for example, as people tend to wonder off and get lost quite a bit.

With the release of various smart phones are companies choosing to hand their employees the iPhone rather than get technology for their landlines like 0800 numbers and premium rate phone numbers?

The Reasons

Tracking

There are several reasons why companies are looking at handing out smart phones to many of their employees. One of the major reasons is that they can keep track of their employees wherever they are going which of course is something that the average boss would love to do. You are then able to see exactly the reason why your employee has left the office. Are they really ill or have they gone into town to buy something cool for themselves?

Kindness

If an employee receives a brand new smart phone just think how much they will now think of the company and how important they will feel. if you give your employees all of the latest gadgets then you are showing that you really care about them and it could help them to work a bit harder as their morale’s are going to be higher.

More Work?

With the addition of things like e-mail and Facebook on the mobile it is possible for your employees to do their work wherever they are in the country. They can start the day on the train by sending out important e-mails and you can get in contact with them either by e-mail or via Facebook whenever you need too as well.

Negatives

One of the major downsides to doing something like this is actually the cost that you are going to get. A lot of the phones may be on pay as you go but to see the real benefits you are going to have to pay for contracts for the employees. It is certainly going to cost you a lot of money if you have a lot of people within the office itself.

You are still going to need systems like the fax to email in place as the smart phone is not quite clever enough to redirect faxes into an email format just yet.
