So you’ve got a big celebration coming up, and you want it to be special. Only thing is, since the economy took a turn for the worse, the pennies are kinda tight at the moment, getting in caters or calling your local Chinese restaurant is never cheap. Without spending alot of money even your event can be successful.

  • Cook the food yourself. Now with an event you’ve got hundreds of things to organise, and if someone has been hired to take care of it- that’ll help. BUT, you gotta save the pennies, and your not liking the prices the outdoor catering firm has quoted. So although it may be abit more of a burden, and another thing you will have to do, the easiest and cheapest way is to do it yourself. This could prove to work in your favour as you now have total control over your events food. This way you can make that wheat free meal for the family member who cant eat wheat.
  • Draft in favours. Seeing as your now holding the event yourself, your gonna need to call in those favours to get this done. Call in any favours owed and try to get any family members will spare hands or time to give you. All hands on deck for this one, and the more hands you have the quicker it gets done and you can move onto something else.
  • Use a cheaper brand when shopping. If you dont mention it many of your guest wont even notice that you’ve swapped for a cheaper brand. The stigma over buying cheaper brand food shouldnt really be around in the middle of a recession. This will save some money, allowing those pennies to go on something else.
  • Use your house as the venue. Yes, its not as glamourous as what you had planned, but you can get away with it. You can now put that money back into the bank and smile about the fact you’ve saved afew more pennies. For a bigger event you could even, as long as you permission, use a location out in the countryside, for a touch of class.
