According to a recent web poll it would appear that a lot of people would actually not take something into the police station and that they would take the item or money for themselves and not let anyone know of the discovery. Why Does This Happen? Are there a lot more criminals out there now or do people just not think that it is a crime and pick it up because they think they can?
Well the thing is, if it is something like cash then it is often understandable why people would not take it to the police station because let’s face it, everyone could do with a bit of extra money right? A lot of people take the opinion that if you drop cash then it is your own fault and if someone else finds it then well it means it is their lucky day right?

Well this could all be fine unless it is a large amount of money. This certainly is when you should think about taking it into the police station. A large amount of money could be the money for a family of four for the month and could have easily dropped out of the pocket or bag when nobody was looking. People should take this into consideration. If you lost a tenner would you be too worried about it or would you not even notice it. How about £100? If you think this could be a yes, take the money in.

Jewellery is something entirely different and should be taken to be handed in straight way and there is a major reason for this and it is that jewellery can be very precious to people indeed as jewellery could have been handed down for years, could be a wedding ring or even a gift from a late relative but it doesn’t matter if it is amethyst jewellery, amber jewellery or even moonstone jewellery you should always return it.

For the cash that is really something left to you.
